Down To Earth All Natural Potting Soil is an exceptional all-around mix for starting seeds, transplanting and cultivating a wide range of plants both indoors and outdoors. Our unique blend of composted bark, coir fiber and perlite create the ideal base for plant growth and development. Coir fiber, unlike the peat moss found in most potting soils, is a renewable resource with numerous properties that make it the superior choice in almost every gardening application. Earthworm castings, composted diatomaceous earth and our All Purpose 4-6-2 fertilizer are added along with seabird and bat guanos to improve soil structure and provide a powerful mix of immediate and long term nutrients for your plants. Finally, a generous amount of Mycorrhizal fungi are added to aid root development, nutrient uptake and reduce transplant shock. Container Gardening:
- Allow two gallons of container size for every foot of plant height (e.g. a two foot high plant will need a four gallon pot.)
- Many plants grow quickly and may become root bound in a short time, so select a pot large enough for future growth.
- Down To Earth's Potting Soil has adequate drainage material, so it is not necessary to add rocks or broken pottery pieces to the inside bottom of the containers.
- Keep the soil slightly moist. Water when needed once or twice a week during the summer and once a month during the winter. Do not overwater.
- To regulate green growth and encourage more flowers add a dry powdered fertilizer when planting and a liquid fertilizer thereafter as needed.
